Straight and Narrow
“Sometimes the linear approach yields abstract results”
Direct routes often blind us to the reality through which we traverse. Linear focus may be very precise for that one thing it is engendered to, and it must be acknowledged that there needs to be context for that one thing to have meaning.
We like to say that it's about the journey and not the destination. If just the destination is the focus, and the means by which achieving that destination is a straight and narrow path, then by all means, that destination will be arrived at. But does it have meaning? Does it have context? What was gained and what was lost along the way?
Attention must be paid to all the occurances along the way of a thing coming about, to create the story, the world, the environment, and the meaning of the thing. This may go against efficiency, but hey, the Gods of Commerce have always had it out for Love.
