Like a Tree
“Like a Tree, I bend with the Winds of change, I hold the Soil of Myself together, Nurture and Protect those around me, Through all the seasons of my Soul”
When we allow ourselves to bend with the winds of change, our limbs do not break. When our roots go deep, they support life to thrive around us. When we connect ourselves, we share the wisdom, experience, skills, and love that we have cultivated. When we move through the cycles and rhythms of life: birth, growth, shedding, rest, joy, sorrow, heartbreak, love, compassion, violence, passion, peace, calm, we honor our relationships with ourselves and with the Earth.
Did you know that forests have mother trees, that the entire forest is connected through mycelium networks, and the mother tree provides sustenance to the younglings, much like a mammal mother provides milk for her offspring. They communicate with one another, and share in one another’s well-being. Just as the apical meristems of shoots (the point where the plant is growing at the tip) grow towards the sun and follow the light, the budding roots tunnel through the Earth, seeking packets of nutrients, stopping there to embed and feed, something like worms. Plants are beautiful, amazing, social creatures.
Love and gratitude to the wisdom of the forest!
