“Eyes are windows into the soul”

Super cliche message, sure, but they really are. Over the past year, when the only discernable feature we've seen of people's faces are their eyes, it's become even more apparent. Our eyes are arguably part of our brain, they absorb and process light, and so much of our being shines through them. Not only our soul, but our current emotional state is reflected in our eyes. We can tell if someone is smiling through their eyes, if they are sad, surprised, angry...

Try gazing into someone's eyes for five straight minutes without looking away. Not fiercely determined, like in a staring contest. Curiously, intimately, softly. What do you experience?
